At State House Entebbe, Uganda hosted Mr. Nick Checker, Senior Bureau Official in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, who is leading the American delegation representing President Donald Trump at tomorrow’s swearing-in ceremony.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on Africa’s economic transformation and the urgent need for industrialisation across the continent. Uganda emphasized that Africa must move beyond exporting raw materials such as coffee, oil and minerals in their unprocessed form, and instead invest in value addition to maximize economic benefits.
The President noted that industrialisation is key to expanding Africa’s GDP, creating employment opportunities for millions of young people and increasing household incomes through stronger local industries.
Uganda also welcomed the visiting U.S. delegation and expressed hope for stronger cooperation that supports trade, manufacturing and sustainable economic growth across Africa.
