Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was transferred from Kira Division Police Station to Makindye on Wednesday afternoon, where he is expected to be presented before court.
Lukwago was driven away from the police station shortly after 2 p.m., ending hours of uncertainty among his supporters, relatives and members of the media who had gathered at the premises seeking updates on his situation.
The transfer sparked renewed attention as supporters followed developments surrounding his anticipated court appearance in Makindye.
Doreen Nyajura, the former Deputy Lord Mayor who served under Lukwago, said he was unexpectedly moved from Kira Division Police Station during the lunch hours. She noted that those at the station were not given prior notice before the transfer.
The move to Makindye is expected to pave the way for legal proceedings, with supporters and political allies closely monitoring the next steps in the matter.
