KABAROLE DISTRICT – A successful Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiary in Kiko Ward, Kiko Town Council, has been entrusted with a new leadership role after demonstrating how government funds can transform household livelihoods.
Mrs. Rukidi Stella Kemigisa, a resident of Kiko Cell, was recently elected PDM Chairperson for Kiko Ward following the success of her income-generating projects established through PDM support.
During a monitoring visit by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Regional Coordinator for Tooro Sub-Region Ms. Nabaasa Babrah and ONC Bazzukulu Coordinator Twikirize Samuel applauded Kemigisa for effectively utilizing her PDM funds to establish a poultry enterprise with 700 birds and a piggery project with 10 pigs.
The officials observed that both projects were well-maintained, with clean structures and healthy animals, describing them as a model for other beneficiaries in the area.
According to Ms. Nabaasa, Kemigisa’s achievements demonstrate the potential of the Parish Development Model to improve household incomes and promote commercial production at the grassroots level.
Speaking during the visit, Kemigisa credited the program for improving her family’s welfare, noting that the proceeds from her projects have enabled her to meet essential needs, including school fees and household expenses.
Now serving as PDM Chairperson for Kiko Ward, she pledged to use her experience to mobilize, guide, and mentor fellow beneficiaries to invest productively and improve their livelihoods.
The ONC team reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring PDM projects across the Tooro Sub-Region to ensure government funds continue generating sustainable income, employment, and economic growth at the household level.
