The development follows a statement by the US military indicating that several ballistic missiles fired by Iran were successfully intercepted before reaching their intended targets. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
Reacting to the incident, Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences, declaring that the United States would “hit Iran hard” in response to the attack. His remarks signalled a further escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Military officials said American air defence systems intercepted the incoming missiles, preventing them from striking US positions in the region. The Pentagon has maintained that its forces remain on high alert as the security situation continues to evolve.
The exchange has prompted fresh concern among the international community over the risk of further military escalation and its potential impact on regional stability and global energy markets.
