Political and religious figures close to Anita Among are reportedly intensifying behind-the-scenes efforts to secure intervention from Yoweri Museveni amid growing concerns over the Speaker’s health and emotional wellbeing as investigations and public scrutiny continue to escalate.
Sources familiar with the situation claim that Among has recently experienced health complications linked to stress and high emotional pressure, allegedly worsened by sustained media attention and political attacks surrounding ongoing investigations into her conduct and lifestyle.
Insiders further allege that the situation became more distressing after comments made publicly by David Kabanda were later reinforced by social media posts from Muhoozi Kainerugaba, which were interpreted by some observers as signaling a withdrawal of political backing from influential power circles.
According to individuals close to the Speaker, one of the most emotionally difficult moments came when several luxury vehicles associated with her were reportedly impounded and towed away in full public view as crowds gathered and media outlets broadcast the developments live.
Concerned that the mounting pressure could further deteriorate her health, a group of senior religious leaders is said to have been mobilized to seek an audience with President Museveni in hopes of appealing for restraint and political leniency.
The clerics are reportedly pushing for a resolution that would prevent the matter from escalating into a formal criminal trial or possible remand at prisons such as Luzira Prison or Kitalya Prison.
However, sources indicate that securing a meeting with the President has so far proven difficult, with insiders suggesting that access to the Head of State has become increasingly limited for those attempting to lobby on Among’s behalf.
