ENTEBBE — President Yoweri Museveni has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), while backing a proposal to relocate the organisation’s headquarters from Europe to Africa.
The President made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting at State House Entebbe with the Secretary General of the OACPS, H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki.
During the meeting, Museveni described Africans in the Caribbean and the indigenous peoples of the Pacific as part of Africa’s extended family, underscoring the importance of closer cooperation among member states of the organisation.
The President also expressed support for the proposal to relocate the OACPS headquarters from Europe, saying the move would strengthen the organisation’s independence and better reflect the interests and aspirations of its member countries.
Museveni reaffirmed Uganda’s readiness to support the initiative and pledged continued collaboration with the OACPS in advancing shared priorities, including economic cooperation, development and regional integration.
The meeting formed part of ongoing engagements aimed at deepening Uganda’s relations with international and regional organisations and promoting Africa’s voice in global affairs.
The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States brings together countries from the three regions to promote sustainable development, political cooperation and stronger economic partnerships among its members.
