Police in Wakiso District are investigating a suspected planned robbery after armed men allegedly followed a beer delivery truck before launching a violent attack at Rafiki Gardens in Nangabo Sub-county, leaving the bar manager nursing a gunshot wound and several customers robbed.
The attack happened on the evening of July 14, 2026, at Rafiki Gardens in Kiti A Cell. According to preliminary police findings, the three suspects, reportedly dressed in military-style uniforms and travelling in a white Toyota Wish, intercepted a beer delivery truck belonging to CK Distributing Company shortly before carrying out the robbery.
Police say the truck driver, Abudfala Musinguzi, 56, a resident of Bwaise in Kawempe Division, was assaulted after the armed men allegedly struck him on the head with a gun butt and ordered him and his colleagues to hand over their belongings.
The suspects then entered the bar, where they reportedly opened fire, shooting the manager, Ambrose Akampurira, in the right thigh. They proceeded to rob patrons of mobile phones and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Akampurira was initially rushed to Reborn Hospital in Kiti for emergency treatment before being referred to Bombo Army Hospital, where he is continuing to receive medical care.
Investigators believe the robbery may have been carefully orchestrated, with preliminary inquiries suggesting the suspects had tailed the beer delivery truck from Kitezi to Rafiki Gardens before striking.
Police are also investigating the registration number, UBP 132M, which was displayed on the suspects’ vehicle, to determine whether it was genuine or had been cloned to conceal the attackers’ identities.
A case of aggravated robbery has been registered at Matugga Police Station under CRB 600/2026. Detectives and scene-of-crime officers processed the scene, collected exhibits, and recorded witness statements as investigations continue.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify or locate the suspects to report it to the nearest police station as efforts to bring those responsible to justice continue.
