KAMPALA** — State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry) Amina Mukalazi has held talks with a delegation from Poland’s VIVE Textile Recycling on a proposed investment in textile and plastic waste recycling in Uganda.

The delegation, led by Mr. Yaser, discussed plans to establish recycling operations aimed at promoting value addition, environmental sustainability and industrial development.
During the meeting, Mukalazi encouraged the prospective investors to prioritise the employment of Ugandans, facilitate technology transfer and source raw materials locally to maximise the project’s economic benefits.
She assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to supporting the investment through coordination with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and by facilitating the necessary investment processes.
Mukalazi said investments in recycling industries have the potential to create employment opportunities, reduce environmental pollution and contribute to Uganda’s industrialisation agenda through value addition.
She noted that promoting recycling and sustainable manufacturing remains a key component of the government’s strategy to strengthen the country’s industrial sector while supporting environmental conservation.
The proposed investment by VIVE Textile Recycling is expected to enhance Uganda’s recycling capacity and contribute to the circular economy by converting textile and plastic waste into valuable industrial products.
The meeting forms part of ongoing government efforts to attract foreign direct investment into sectors that promote sustainable economic growth, job creation and industrial transformation.
