KAMPALA — Authorities have launched a coordinated compliance and enforcement operation at Kisenyi Bus Terminal aimed at improving road safety and ensuring that public service vehicles (PSVs) meet the required transport standards.
The operation, conducted jointly by the relevant transport authorities, the Uganda Police Force and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), is focused on verifying compliance with key road transport regulations.
Officials said the exercise includes inspection of drivers’ licences and other mandatory documentation, assessment of vehicle roadworthiness, verification of operator licences and enforcement of passenger safety standards.
The operation forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts to enhance safety in the public transport sector by ensuring that only licensed, roadworthy and compliant buses are allowed to operate on Uganda’s roads.
Authorities noted that regular compliance inspections are essential in promoting discipline among transport operators, reducing road traffic crashes and safeguarding the lives of passengers.
They urged bus owners and drivers to adhere to all transport regulations, warning that those found operating in violation of the law would face enforcement action in accordance with existing road traffic laws.
The joint exercise underscores the government’s continued commitment to strengthening road safety and improving the quality and reliability of public transport services across the country.
