The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has intensified investigations into Nairobi County Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning Patrick Analo Akivaga following the discovery of millions of shillings in cash during searches at his home and vehicle.
According to the anti-graft agency, the operation forms part of a wider probe into allegations of unexplained wealth, conflict of interest, abuse of office, and bribery involving the senior county official.
Investigators believe Akivaga may have accumulated wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Preliminary findings indicate that more than KSh170 million was allegedly received through multiple cash and mobile money transactions between the 2019/20 and 2025/26 financial years.
The recovered cash is expected to form part of evidence as detectives seek to establish the source of the funds and determine whether they are linked to corrupt dealings within Nairobi County.
The latest developments underscore the EACC’s renewed focus on tracking illicit wealth among public officials, with investigators examining financial records and transaction trails linked to the suspect.
Akivaga remains under investigation as authorities continue gathering evidence to support potential charges.
