Authorities have launched investigations into a devastating road traffic crash that claimed the lives of 14 people and left 28 others injured at Bobi Trading Centre along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.

The collision occurred at around 9:34 p.m. on July 7 and involved an Isuzu passenger bus belonging to OPIT Travellers Company and a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.
Emergency responders and police rushed to the scene to rescue victims trapped in the wreckage. Fourteen people were confirmed dead, while 28 survivors sustained varying degrees of injuries and were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Police have begun investigations to establish the cause of the crash, including whether speed, mechanical failure, road conditions, or human error may have contributed to the tragedy.
The accident is among the latest fatal crashes on Uganda’s highways, renewing calls for greater road safety awareness, strict enforcement of traffic regulations, and improved compliance by both public transport operators and cargo vehicles.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during night travel, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
