Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been further remanded to Luzira Prison after the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Makindye postponed its ruling on his bail application in a misprision of treason case.
Lukwago appeared before the court expecting a decision on his request for temporary release, but the magistrate deferred the ruling, indicating that it will instead be delivered electronically via email within the next 24 hours.
The postponement means the veteran opposition politician will remain in custody pending the court’s determination on whether he qualifies for bail as legal proceedings continue.

Lukwago is facing charges of misprision of treason, allegations he has previously denied. The case continues to draw public attention, with supporters and political observers closely following developments.
The anticipated electronic ruling is expected to provide clarity on Lukwago’s immediate future as the case progresses through the courts.
