A coordinated security crackdown in Entebbe Municipality has led to the arrest of 16 individuals and the recovery of an illegal firearm, as police intensify efforts to address rising safety concerns in Wakiso District.
The intelligence-driven operation, carried out on April 11, 2026, focused on several areas including Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba, and Ssisa Village. Security teams specifically targeted unfinished residential buildings in Hossana and Jomayi Estates, as well as locations suspected to be hubs for illegal gambling activities.
Authorities say the operation was prompted by growing alarm from residents over reports of a suspected illegal gun in the community. Acting on this information, officers conducted a sweeping search that resulted in multiple arrests.
During interrogations, one of the suspects reportedly guided police to the hidden firearm, which has since been taken into custody as evidence.
Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed that all 16 suspects remain detained and will face court proceedings as investigations continue. She emphasized that the operation reflects a broader commitment by law enforcement to respond swiftly to community intelligence and maintain public safety.
The incident highlights ongoing collaboration between residents and security agencies in tackling crime within the district.
