President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has underscored the critical role of modern infrastructure and industrial skills development in accelerating Uganda’s economic transformation, saying the two sectors are creating opportunities for tourism, investment, and youth employment.
The President noted that continued investment in roads and other strategic infrastructure has improved access to Uganda’s national parks, tourism sites, and scenic landscapes, making the country more attractive to both domestic and international visitors. He said better connectivity is not only boosting the tourism sector but also opening up markets, facilitating trade, and supporting regional development.
Alongside infrastructure development, President Museveni highlighted the impact of government-led industrial skilling initiatives, which he said have equipped thousands of young Ugandans with practical vocational skills that enable them to secure employment, start businesses, and improve their livelihoods.
According to the President, industrial skilling programmes are helping address youth unemployment by preparing graduates with hands-on expertise in trades that are increasingly needed to support Uganda’s growing industrial and manufacturing sectors.
He emphasized that investments in infrastructure and human capital are complementary, arguing that roads, electricity, and industrial parks create opportunities that can only be fully realized when young people possess the technical skills to participate in the economy.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure development and vocational training as part of Uganda’s broader strategy to promote sustainable tourism, create jobs, and achieve inclusive economic growth.
