Police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a 24-year-old university student whose body was discovered at his grandmother’s home days after he was last seen alive.
The deceased, identified as Ronny Okumu, was a second-year student at Great Lakes University. He had travelled to his grandmother’s residence in Aramo Village, Rachuonyo South, on June 25 for what appeared to be a routine family visit.
According to relatives, Ronny arrived at the home, requested the house keys from his grandmother, and settled in without showing any signs of distress or unusual behaviour.
Several days later, concerns arose after he could no longer be reached, prompting family members to check on him. They made the tragic discovery of his decomposing body, leading to the involvement of police.
Officers from Rachuonyo South Sub-county have since opened an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Detectives are expected to examine the scene, interview witnesses, and await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The incident has left relatives and residents of Aramo Village in shock, with many describing Ronny’s death as unexpected and calling for a thorough investigation to establish what happened.
Police have appealed for patience as investigations continue, assuring the family that all possible leads will be pursued to determine the events that led to thestudent’s death.
