KAMPALA — Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has commended President Yoweri Museveni for extending financial support to 743 Ugandan adults who recently returned from South Africa, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens both at home and abroad.
In a statement, Nabbanja said each returnee received **Shs2 million**, thanking the President for prioritising humanitarian support for Ugandans facing difficult circumstances.
“President Museveni has supported 743 adult returnees from South Africa with Shs2 million each. I commend him for prioritising humanity and looking out for Ugandans both at home and in the diaspora,” Nabbanja said.
She added that the initiative reflects the government’s continued efforts to assist vulnerable Ugandans and facilitate their reintegration after returning home.
Nabbanja also called on other African leaders to emulate President Museveni’s approach by extending similar support to their citizens, particularly those affected by hardships while living or working abroad.
“I also urge other African leaders to embrace this approach,” she said.
The support comes as the government continues to implement measures aimed at assisting Ugandans returning from foreign countries, with officials saying such interventions are intended to ease their resettlement and help them rebuild their livelihoods.
