A government empowerment initiative is making a tangible difference in Iganga District, where a young entrepreneur has transformed a single piece of equipment into a growing business and improved household livelihood.
During a monitoring visit to Nabitende Kalungami, Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager and Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, assessed the progress of beneficiaries supported under the ONC empowerment
programme.
Among the success stories was Mr. Mwogeza Alamanzani, a member of the Nabitende Youth Development Group, who received a welding machine through the programme in December 2024. Since then, he says the equipment has enabled him to expand his welding enterprise, serve more customers, and increase his income.
The improved earnings have not only strengthened his business but also enhanced his family’s welfare. Mr. Mwogeza revealed that he has invested part of the proceeds in purchasing two cows, creating an additional source of income and improving his household’s financial security.
He expressed appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for championing wealth-creation initiatives and thanked Hajjat Namyalo for ensuring government empowerment programmes reach grassroots communities where they can have a direct impact.
Speaking after the visit, Hajjat Namyalo commended Mr. Mwogeza for using the support responsibly, describing his achievements as an example of how government empowerment initiatives can transform lives when beneficiaries embrace hard work, innovation, and accountability.
She reaffirmed the ONC’s commitment to monitoring beneficiaries across the country to ensure government support translates into sustainable businesses, job creation, and long-term economic empowerment for Ugandan households.
