Residents of Kimanya Village in Wakiso District are appealing for urgent intervention following repeated attacks by a pack of stray dogs that have not only endangered lives but also devastated local livelihoods.
According to residents, the dogs roam the village between midnight and 3:00 a.m., creating fear among community members who avoid moving around during those hours. While concerns over human safety continue to grow, villagers say the animals have caused significant damage to banana plantations, destroying crops that many families depend on for income and food.
Affected farmers report waking up to find sections of their gardens ruined, resulting in mounting financial losses. The destruction has left many households worried about their ability to sustain themselves and meet daily needs.
Community leaders and residents are now calling on district authorities and animal control agencies to step in and address the situation before it worsens. They want the stray dogs removed from the area and measures put in place to protect both residents and their crops.
Villagers warn that without immediate action, the continued attacks could further threaten food production, household incomes, and the safety of the community.
