KAMPALA** — Uganda Airlines has signed an agreement with Boeing to acquire eight new aircraft as the national carrier moves to expand its fleet and strengthen its regional and international route network.
Under the order, the airline will purchase **our Boeing 737 MAX** aircraft and *four Boeing 787 Dreamliner** jets, all designed to offer improved fuel efficiency and lower operating costs.
Boeing announced the agreement, welcoming Uganda Airlines to its customer family and describing the order as a significant step in supporting the carrier’s long-term growth strategy.
According to the aircraft manufacturer, the additional planes are intended to meet growing passenger demand across Africa while enabling the airline to expand services to the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
The Boeing 737 MAX is expected to serve regional and medium-haul routes, while the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will support the airline’s long-haul international operations.
The fleet expansion is expected to enhance Uganda Airlines’ capacity, improve operational efficiency and strengthen its competitiveness as it seeks to broaden its footprint in key international markets.
The announcement was made during the **Farnborough International Airshow 2026 (FIA 2026)**, where aircraft manufacturers and airlines are showcasing new partnerships and investments aimed at meeting rising global demand for air travel.
Uganda Airlines has in recent years pursued an ambitious expansion strategy, adding new destinations and increasing frequencies on existing routes as it seeks to position Entebbe as a regional aviation hub.
