Cities across Uganda are experiencing significant improvements in infrastructure under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) Program, a government initiative aimed at enhancing urban development and attracting investment.
Through the program, local governments have upgraded key public facilities, expanded and rehabilitated road networks, and improved drainage systems to address challenges associated with rapid urbanization. These developments have helped create more accessible, organized, and attractive urban centres.

The infrastructure upgrades are also expected to boost economic activity by improving the business environment and increasing the appeal of municipalities to investors and residents alike.
Officials say the program reflects the government’s broader efforts to strengthen urban planning and support sustainable growth as Uganda’s towns and cities continue to expand.
