KAMPALA** — Members of the public have been called upon to participate in a nationwide community clean-up exercise scheduled for **Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.**, as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and improve public health.
The initiative aims to encourage communities across the country to work together in cleaning their surroundings, with organisers emphasising that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility.
According to the organisers, the exercise is intended to foster collective action towards creating healthier, safer and more attractive neighbourhoods while strengthening public awareness about proper sanitation and waste management.
Participants are expected to take part in activities such as collecting litter, clearing drainage channels, sweeping public spaces and ensuring proper disposal of waste.
The organisers noted that regular community clean-up exercises play an important role in preventing the spread of disease, improving hygiene and protecting the environment.
The campaign is being conducted under the theme: **”A Clean Environment for a Cleaner Nation,”** which underscores the importance of individual and community participation in building a cleaner and more sustainable Uganda.
Members of the public have been encouraged to turn up in large numbers and dedicate the three-hour exercise to improving the cleanliness of their communities as part of a broader national effort to promote environmental stewardship.
