President Yoweri Museveni has called on the European Union and other international partners to support Africa’s push for industrialization, value addition, and infrastructure development as a pathway to sustainable prosperity.
Speaking during a meeting at State House Entebbe with the European Union Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Jan Sadek, and his delegation, Museveni reflected on five decades of cooperation between Uganda and the EU while emphasizing the need for a more balanced economic relationship.
The President noted that Africa’s continued export of raw materials and importation of finished products limits the continent’s economic growth and job creation potential. He stressed that adding value to local resources through manufacturing and industrial development is essential for transforming African economies and improving livelihoods.
Museveni argued that a more prosperous and industrialized Africa would create greater opportunities for trade, investment, and business partnerships with Europe. He urged European partners to work alongside African countries in unlocking the continent’s vast economic potential through strategic investments in value addition, industrialization, and critical infrastructure.
The discussions also highlighted the significance of the long-standing Uganda-EU partnership and the opportunities for deeper collaboration aimed at fostering economic growth and shared prosperity.
