Former gospel star Julie Mutesasira has shared how the support she received from her family helped her embrace a new chapter in life after publicly opening up about her sexual orientation.
Speaking during an interview on YouTube with Kayz, Julie revealed that although the revelation initially surprised some of her relatives, including her parents, they eventually chose understanding and acceptance over judgment.
The singer, who relocated to Canada several years ago, said her mother played a key role in encouraging her to live truthfully and pursue happiness.
“My mother told me to do whatever makes me happy,” Julie shared during the interview.
Julie also spoke about conversations she later had with her children after settling abroad. According to her, they accepted her decision, something she says brought her peace and confidence to continue living authentically.
The celebrated singer explained that the acceptance from both her parents and children eased her transition into a new life overseas, where she has continued focusing on music and personal growth.
Over the years, Julie has become more open about her personal journey, often using interviews and public appearances to discuss life, identity, and starting over in a different environment.
