KAMPALA— Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has stepped up nationwide mobilisation efforts ahead of the Local Council II (LC2) elections scheduled for August 10, 2026, calling on Ugandans to actively participate in the electoral process.
Namyalo described the parish-level elections as a crucial pillar of grassroots democracy, emphasizing the need for communities to elect leaders committed to effective service delivery and local development.
Speaking to supporters and ONC coordinators, she urged members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to remain united and rally behind candidates who uphold the party’s values and vision.
“Strong grassroots leadership is essential in promoting accountability, maintaining peace and ensuring the successful implementation of government programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of ordinary citizens,” Namyalo said.
She further appealed to voters across the country to turn up in large numbers on polling day, stressing that every vote plays an important role in shaping local leadership and determining the future of communities.
The ONC manager encouraged voters to elect leaders of integrity who are accessible to the people, capable of addressing local challenges and committed to advancing socio-economic transformation at the parish level.
Namyalo also called upon women, youth and other community groups to actively participate in the elections, noting that inclusive leadership is fundamental to sustainable development and effective governance.
According to her, the LC2 elections present an opportunity for citizens to strengthen grassroots institutions by electing representatives who understand the needs and aspirations of their communities.
The nationwide mobilisation campaign, spearheaded by the Office of the National Chairman, is aimed at encouraging peaceful participation in the elections and galvanising support for NRM-aligned candidates ahead of the vote.
The Local Council II elections are scheduled to take place on August 10, 2026, with Namyalo reaffirming her commitment to working closely with grassroots structures across the country to ensure a transparent, peaceful and successful electoral process.
