Entebbe, June 27, 2024 — Thousands of women and youth in Entebbe received a major boost toward economic independence following a large-scale empowerment initiative spearheaded by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) under the leadership of Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye.

Held at Entebbe Muslim Grounds, the event attracted a massive turnout as beneficiaries received a range of income-generating tools and equipment aimed at enhancing household incomes and promoting self-employment.
Representing President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, Namyalo, popularly known as “Chief Muzzukulu,” oversaw the distribution of motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, bricklaying equipment, hair dryers, and lawn mowers to organized groups and individuals.

The initiative forms part of the ONC’s ongoing campaign to equip Ugandans with practical resources that can help them establish businesses, create jobs, and improve their standards of living.
Addressing the gathering, Namyalo highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering citizens at the grassroots level, noting that sustainable development begins with providing communities the tools needed to generate income and build resilience.
“Our focus is to ensure that every Ugandan has an opportunity to participate in economic transformation. These tools are intended to help beneficiaries become productive, self-reliant, and contributors to national development,” she said.
Recipients welcomed the support, describing it as a life-changing opportunity. Many expressed optimism that the equipment would enable them to expand existing enterprises or start new ventures, creating a positive ripple effect within their communities.
The lively event was marked by enthusiasm and gratitude from residents, many of whom praised the ONC for extending empowerment programs directly to ordinary citizens. As the exercise concluded, Namyalo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing similar initiatives across the country to ensure more Ugandans benefit from wealth-creation programs.
The Entebbe empowerment drive stands as another milestone in efforts to promote economic inclusion, strengthen livelihoods, and advance community-based development across Uganda
